Angul: Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) celebrated the Engineers’ Day 2019 to mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna and eminent engineer Dr Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Hundreds of Engineers across the age group showcased their engineering innovation and out of box ideas in this two days long celebration held at JSPL campus. The Chief Operating Officer of JSPL’s Odisha Business Mr. Pankaj Gautam, Executive Director – Central Maintenance Mr. Suresh Kumar, Iron Making Head Mr. Damodar Mittal along with all the other department heads and thousands of employees participated in the event and paid homage to the great Engineer of our nation and Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
Attending the function Mr. Pankaj Gautam, said “this is really a great day for all the Engineers of our country to remember India’s most prolific civil engineer and statesman Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya for his contribution towards harnessing of water resources by building and consolidating dams for better irrigation and saving valuable lives from floods”.
Engineers working in JSPL’s Angul unit participated in several competitions like Rubik’s Cube Challenge, Debate, Contraption, Tower of Hanoi Competition, Quiz, etc, followed by birthday cake cutting ceremony in loving memory of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Winners of various competitions were awarded in the concluding programme.
Addressing the engineers, Mr. Suresh Kumar advised everyone to learn from Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya’s life and his commitments to achieve new highs in engineering marvels. He also appreciated the participants for their innovative ideas and creative solutions. Mr. Damodar Mittal, a veteran in JSPL having more than 25 years of experience in this organization also shared his knowledge and highlighted the significance of Engineers Day.
JSPL has also honoured the Executives of the Year 2018-19 and in-house trainers for their consistent exemplary performance throughout the year.
The celebration was successfully organized under the direct supervision of Mr. Alok Malhotra, Head-HR & ES, in coordination and support from all the other departments of the unit.
