Barbil: The Barbil business unit of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) here on Tuesday celebrated the 88th birth anniversary of late Shri Om Prakash Jindal, the founder of Jindal Group. To commemorate the day, several programmes were organised at the pellet plant, Jindal School and Adivasi Vikas Samiti Vidyamandir, Serenda premises.
At the pelletisation complex and Jindal School floral tributes were offered to the visionary industrialist, who was fondly called as Bauji. Like previous years this year too, nearly 600 school bags were distributed among students of nearby schools in Deojhar gram panchayat.
Addressing the gathering, Executive Vice President and JSPL’s Barbil Unit Head Shri Suresha G, said, “Bauji will always be remembered for his fructified vision towards his consistent contribution for development of the core facbrics of the Country.As a successful entrepreneur and nation builder he is undoubtedly a source of inspiration and strength for many.”
During his speech, Shri Suresha advised the students to muster courage to face the difficulties in life. A cultural extravaganza was staged by the students on the occasion which was witnessed by senior officials of JSPL and, faculties and staff of the school.
On the occasion two scholarship programmes – OP Jindal Star and OP Jindal Jewel – for economically weaker meritorious students from the vicinity area of JSPL’s operations across India, were announced.
Later in the day, a meeting was organised at Adivasi Vikas Samiti Vidyamandir in Serenda. In her speech Padmashree Tulasi Munda lauded the social works and tribal development activities undertaken by JSPL Foundation in and around Barbil. Students of the residential school were distributed sweets on the occasion.
