New Delhi: Hindustan Zinc’s Rajpura Dariba Mine received ‘Five-star Rating’ for exemplary performance in implementation of Sustainable Development Framework at the 3rd National Conclave on Mines & Minerals, at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi on 20th March 2018. The prestigious award was presented by Hon’ble Union Minister of Mines – Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar.
The Sustainable Development Framework is a concept developed as a guiding principle for Indian mining industry at national level by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines encompassing the critical issues, vital for development of mining in India, as a contributor to inclusive growth, without adversely affecting the social, financial and environmental well-being, at present and also in the future, of fellow countrymen.
The conclave was organized by Ministry of Mines, Government of India where around 1043 mines participated from all over India. Rajpura Dariba Mine has been rated ‘5 star’ category after validation of 96.12% online self-scoring and received the award in opening session. The Star rating system evaluates performance of mines on technical, socio-economic, environmental parameters; final and progressive mine closure and adoption of international standards with the objective to bring standardisation in mining operation and for minimising impacts of mining.
On behalf of Hindustan Zinc, the award was received by Mr. L.S. Shekhawat – COO-Mines and Mr. S.K. Khator – Unit Head-Rajpura Dariba Mine.
