Bhubaneswar: The first ever ‘Rescue Room’ in Sukinda Valley was inaugurated today at IMFA’s Mahagiri Underground Chromite Mines by Mr A K Sinha, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, DGMS.
Equipped with specialised equipment and trained personnel, this facility will be able to respond to unforeseen eventualities not just in IMFA’s own mines but also those in the neighbourhood. Others present on the occasion were Mr R Balasubramanian, Director of Mines Safety and senior company officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jayant Misra, Director & COO said: “This is another pioneering step by IMFA in line with our commitment to underground mining in Sukinda Valley. We are grateful to DGMS for their guidance in establishing the ‘Rescue Room’. With trained personnel and specialised equipment, this facility is equipped to deal with unforeseen situations”.
IMFA is also the only lessee operating in the mining area to have installed an automated wheel washing system and mist canons to safeguard against environmental hazards.
