CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan pays tribute to Late Vidyasagar on his death anniversary

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan remembered freedom fighter Late Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar and garlanded his portrait today on his death anniversary.

Late Shri Ishwar Chandra Vandyopadhyay was awarded the title of Vidyasagar in his student days because of his vast knowledge of Sanskrit and philosophy. Late Shri Vidyasagar ji was born on 26 September 1820 in the Veerasingh village in Medinipur district of Bengal. Shri Vidyasagar ji is called the patron of the downtrodden and the poor. Due to his efforts, the law for widow marriage was passed in the year 1856. He raised his voice to educate daughters, at the same time, he also opposed child marriage. Late Shri Vidyasagar ji passed away on July 29, 1891.
