Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan pays tribute to Late Shri Bankim Chandra Chatterjee

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan paid a humble tribute on the death anniversary of Shri Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, composer of Vande Mataram song at Chief Minister’s residence today. Garlanding his portrait Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Late Shri Bankim Chandra Chatterjee was a great poet and novelist of Bengali literature as well as a renowned journalist. He not only introduced modern literature in Bangla language but also worked to take Bangla literature to new heights. He became very famous for his work ‘Vande Mataram’. This national anthem written by him still develops a sense of patriotism among the people.

His first Bengali novel was Durgesh Nandini. Kapal Kundala was the most popular novel. He also published the monthly magazine Bang Darshan. Shri Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s most famous novel ‘Anandamath’ was published in 1882, from which the famous song ‘Vande Mataram’ has been taken.
