Chennai: The Booksellers’ & Publishers’ Association of South India (BAPASI) organises the 43rd Chennai Book Fair at YMCA Grounds, Nandanam on 9 th January, 2020. The book fair stays open for 13 days from 9 th January to 21st January, 2020.
The Chennai Book Fair attracts Readers and Book lovers from various countries and from states all over India who come together in a unified thought, of attending one of the Asia’s largest book fair that holds to its credit 700 stalls with 15 lakh titles and more than 2 crore books all under a single wide roof. This treasure house of books – a fair for the readers and intellectuals is scheduled to function on weekdays between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. and on extended hours of working from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on holidays.

Creating history each year the Chennai Book Fair the first time in its history has roped in around 5000 students from various schools in around Chennai for an event titled “CHENNAI READS” in the Grounds of YMCA Nandanam at 10 am on 6
th January, 2020 where students read books showcasing the goodness and necessity of reading. This event is to be graced by the Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Chennai District Collector, Eminent personalities, Officials and Teachers.
The 43rd Chennai Book Fair adds to its uniqueness in having its own logo and hashtag that was unveiled today. Chennai Book Fair is planned to throw its lime light on Tamil – one of world’s ancient languages filled with rich heritage. A special auditorium titled Keeladi – Eeradi showcasing the features of the ancientness and its greatness is to be arranged. The Department of
Archaeology has consented to exhibit the evidences related, to educate the public gathered under a single umbrella.
The thirteen day Book Fair has several special features under its wings. One of the features is to bring in leading writers, poets, scientists and personalities of other walks of life to embellish each day of the Book Fair and make it a memorable one.
World renowned publishers and book sellers have announced a 10% discount on all books sold at the 43rd Chennai Book Fair. Moreover to attract the young minds, towards books students of schools and colleges; in and around Chennai are to be given free entry tickets; duly distributed by BAPASI through various institutions. The entrance fee is Rs. 10 per head.
Students and young children can participate and win prizes for their skills and talents by competing in Oratorical, Drawing and Quiz competitions arranged especially for them. Young directors can now take the centre stage through their short films and documentaries filled with social themes and related to books to be screened in the auditorium arranged separately for the purpose. Online Tickets, wheel chairs for differently abled people, mobile ATM’s, purchase through debit and credit cards are some of the additional features which
make the Book Fair user friendly for the book lovers.
