Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates New India Exhibition-cum-Seminar at Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Mr Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister, Petroleum & Natural Gas Ministry and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, inaugurated five-day-long Exhibition-cum-Seminar on ‘New India- We resolve to make’ here today to commemorate the 75 years of Quit India Movement and forthcoming 75 years of Independence in 2022.

This exhibition-cum-seminar has been organised by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in association with Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL) and Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP).

Mr Pradhan was received by Mr A K Jha, Chairman & Managing Director, MCL, along with Mr JP Singh, Director (Technical/Operations), Mr L N Mishra, Director (Personnel), Mr OP Singh, Director Technical/Projects & Planning), Mr R. C. Mohanty, Deputy Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Ministry.

The Minister, who visited the exhibition depicting various historical events between 1857 to 1947, appreciated the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, MCL and DAVP for organising this exhibition-cum-seminar “New India- We Resolve to Make”, a vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Union Minister also administered six pledges on vision New India. He also felicitated young chess wizard Ms Saina Salonika and women weightlifters of Odisha Ms. Jhilli Dalabehara and Ms. Sneha Soren.

The exhibition-cum-seminar, which begins from today, will open at 11:00 hrs every day with talk shows by experts on various subjects and cultural programme by Song & Drama Division, Bhubaneswar, (Ministry of Information & Broadcasting) in the afternoon 1600 hrs to 1930 hrs.

Exhibition focuses on India’s freedom movement from 1857 to 1947 showing the various activities initiated to attain the freedom from the British rule – “The First War of Independence, 1857”, “The Champaran Satyagrah”, “The Non-Co-operation movement”, “The Dandi Yatra” and the Quit India Movement.

Besides, the period of five years from 1942 to 1947 is reflected to show how the movement’s of India’s struggle for freedom transformed the entire country into one to fight for the freedom from the British Rule and in the end. The vision of New India from 2017 to 2022 — when country will be celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence – is also showcased is the exhibition, which has multimedia and pictorial presentations.

The five year period from 2017 to 2022 is to give a unique opportunity of ‘Sankalp se Sidhi’ towards a ‘New India’. This programme is in tune with the mass campaign started by the Hon’ble Prime Minister to take the six resolves to make the country free of corruption; free of poverty; free of filth; free of communalism; free of terrorism and free of casteism.
This programme is being organised with the purpose of spreading Prime Minister’s message amongst the people of the country to help in achieving the vision of New India.
