Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik declares Pradeep Amat as Speaker candidate for the state Assembly. CM Naveen Patnaik also announced the name of Pratap Deb as BJD’s Rajya Sabha nominee.
Odisha has 30 districts & representation cannot be given to each district; there is limit on number of ministers we can have, says CM Naveen Patnaik. CM Naveen Patnaik says ‘I don’t think any leader is joining BJP; those who were expelled for anti-party activities have done so’.
On the other hand Pradeep Amat and Pratap Deb thank CM Naveen Patnaik for nominating them. I thank CM for nominating me for Rajya Sabha, will work in accordance with CM’s instructions says Pratap Deb .Speaker post lying vacant in Odisha Assembly after Niranjan Pujari resigned will now be taken by Pradeep Amat who is a former speaker. The election for the Speaker post will be held on may 16.
