JSPL observes World AIDS Day across all its location in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) observed World AIDS Day across all its operational locations in Odisha. The Company organized several awareness programmes at Barbil in Keonjhar District, Tensa in Sundargarh district and joined the district level awareness rally at Angul.

A week long campaign beginning from the Worlds AIDS Day was also started to sensitize all the staffs, Workers, truckers and visitors of JSPL’s Angul unit. The Company will also organize folk programmes at different village in its periphery. Leaflets on HIV/AIDS awareness was also distributed among the participants.

At Barbil, JSPL organized an Education and Counseling programme covering its workers, truck drivers and employees. EVP & Unit Head of JSPL, Barbil Mr. G Suresha inaugurated the programme. An Awareness Rath moved in Deojhar, Asainkala, Kandra and Birkala Gram Panchayats to sensitise the local villagers about HIV/AIDS and prevention.

About 600 students, teachers, community people, ANM and Swasthya Sanginis participated in the awareness rally organised at Tensa in Sundargarh District. Students of Govt. High School, Dengula performed a role play on HIV/AIDS Awareness at Dengula Village.

Speaking on the Occasion JSPL’s Group Head (CSR & Education) Mr. Prashant Kumar Hota said, “We strongly belive that proper awareness on HIV/AIDS will one day eradicate AIDS from the world. Therefore, not just on World AIDS Day, JSPL regularly organises counselling and awareness programmes on HIV/AIDS at all its units in Odisha. We are thankful to the local administration at each locations for their support and participation”.

JSPL always encourages all its employees and our workers for voluntary HIV testing as per national guidelines. The Company has set up an Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre (ICTC) at its Angul Unit. The company has been honoured for its work in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
