JSPL Foundation Observes Rastriya Poshan Maah with Workshop on Nutrition

Angul: As a part of its effort to observe the Rastriya Poshan Maah or National Nutrition Month, JSPL Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL), in association with ICDS-Angul organised a workshop to create awareness about nutrition and related issues. JSPL’s Occupational Health centre (OHC) also joined in this initiative. Young mothers having children of 0-3 years of age and other women from nearby villages joined the workshop.

Mrs Sanjukta Lenka, CDPO-Banarpal Block and Mr. Krushna Prasad Behera, CMO-OHC JSPL along with local Anganwadi and ASHA workers trained and sensitised the participants about importance of nutrition in everybody’s life as well as how to prevent malnutrition. Mrs. Puspalata Satapathy, GM-CSR was also present on the occasion.

The organisers used health check-up, Audio Visual Show, Quiz and Complementary food exhibition to create awareness about nutrition and its importance for a health society.

On the occasion, JSPL’s GM (CSR) Mrs. Puspalata Satapathy announced that the Kishori Express, run by JSPL Foundation, would create women on complementary feeding for young mothers and importance of nutrition.

ICDS Supervisors Mrs. Anasuya Panda and Mrs. Annapoorna Das; OHC doctors Dr. Ambarish Patra and Dr. Ashish Mohapatra; and various Angan Wadi Workers and ASHA Workers also attended the workshop. Women from Jarada, Paripara, Jamunda and Jamunda and Jungle village participated in the programme.

It is to be noted that September has been declared as Rashtriya Poshan Maah by government of India to create nutrition awareness.

JSPL Foundation has been providing foods and nutritional support to more than 3500 children on daily basis across Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh to eradicate malnutrition.
