Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal attended ‘Janajati Gaurav Divas’ at Guwahati

New Delhi : Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles,  Piyush Goyal, today participated in the ‘Janajati Gaurav Divas’ organized by Kalyan Ashram, held at Haryana Bhawan, Guwahati.

During his speech, at the Janajati Gaurav Divas, the Minister highlighted the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on uplifting the tribal population in the country. The Union Minister apprised that these initiatives have been organised to provide a platform for the tribal communities to present their talent in various fields and lay out a roadmap for their all-round development. The Minister also praised different artifacts made by the tribal population in the country.

The week-long celebration is dedicated to tribal communities of India, which commenced on November 15th and continues across the country with full enthusiasm and throws light on different colours of tribal culture, informed the Union Minister. Shri Goyal stated that 15th November, is the birth anniversary of the legendary tribal freedom fighter, Bhagwan Birsa Munda and will be celebrated every year as ‘Janajatiya Gaurav Divas’ and therefore,  programmes are being organised across the country to honour the legacy of the tribal freedom fighters, who till now have remained the unsung heroes of our freedom struggle.

Industries and Commerce Minister of Assam, Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary and Rangia MLA, Shri Bhabesh Kalita were also present at the event.
