Second Edition of Tata Steel BSL Run-a-thon set to witness more participants

Dhenkanal: Tata Steel BSL, (formerly known as Bhushan Steel) will organize the second edition of Tata Steel BSL Run-a-thon -2020 on February 2, 2020 in association with the district administration, Dhenkanal.
The details of the Tata Steel BSL Run-a-thon-2020 were announced during the launch ceremony in Dhenkanal on January 15, 2020. The event consists of two competitive races – 10km run for men and women of 16 years and above and 5 km for boys and girls between the age of 12 and 16 years.
During the press conference, the official T-Shirt for the Tata Steel BSL Run-a-thon-2020 was unveiled by Shri Bhumesh Chandra Behera, Collector, Dhenkanal and Shri Subodh Pandey, Chief Operating Officer, Tata Steel BSL along with other guests including Mr Pradipta Kumar Mohanty, District Sports Officer, Dhenkanal, Mr Manikanata Naik, Chief, Corporate Services, Tata Steel BSL, noted Odia film star Ms Archita Sahu and Mr Sabyasachi Mishra, Executive Director, MGM Minerals, Mr J P Sharma, and Shri Bagicha Singh, Head, Athletics, Tata Steel.
At the beginning of press conference one-minute silence was observed in honour of late Ms Kalpana Dash, first Odia Everest climber who had participated in the first edition of Tata Steel BSL Run-a-thon to encourage the run enthusiasts.
“We want to promote the culture of sports in rural area. I believe Tata Steel BSL Run-a-thon will help create more awareness on sports in the region. Dhenkanal district administration will facilitate the run.” said Shri Behera, Collector, Dhenkanal.
“In line with our group philosophy we want to promote sports in the region while spreading the message on fitness and good health. In this second edition of the run-a-thon we want to take it next level for which we are collaborating with the district administration and other local industries. This time we expect 3500 runners to participate in event.” said Shri Pandey, Chief Operating Officer, Tata Steel BSL.
In addition to the district administration, the other local industrial house MGM Minerals and a group company Tata Motors have also been associated with the Run-a-thon.
The highest prize money will be Rs 41 thousand to each of the winners in the Men and Women category of 10km run. Venue will be the main gate of Tata Steel BSL Plant at Narendrapur, Dhenkanal. Last date of registration through the official website http://tatasteelbsl-run.com/ is January 25, 2020. However, there will be a maximum of 3500 registrations and enrolment will be done on a first come first serve basis. Those who want to do registration off-line, can visit Tata Steel plant gate at Narendrapur, Dhenkanal.
The registration fees for 10km run is Rs 150, and for 5 km Run is Rs 50. All participants will be given participation T Shirts, BIB Chip and Number as well as refreshments.
State-of-the-art technology consisting of Timing Mats and its control units, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips, split timing mats on route, tracking camera, wi-fi network on route as per international standard will be used to follow the world-class standards at the Tata Steel BSL Run-a-thon. For this a Mumbai based professional agency has been roped in.
