Odisha Energy Dept uses video conferencing to remain updated with ground officials, post Amphan

Bhubaneswar: In order to remain updated with the field staff and officials post Amphan, Energy Department has been conducting video conferencing (VC) of senior officials of energy dept. and Discoms every day since 16th May 2020 for review of preparedness.

The Minister has participated in all the VCs. Gangs of 371 number, each gang comprising 10 work-men, have been prepositioned at strategic locations of the DISCOMs for restoration work.

Materials were mobilised to the strategic location. In NESCO area (poles 2000 Nos, Insulators 4100Nos, Conductor/ cable 120Km, DTs 60 Nos) have been prepositioned.

Tree branches along the HT and LT lines have been trimmed for about 1050 km. Citizens awareness was created on safety through electronic media campaigns.

Control rooms were operated at each DISCOM Head offices along with a Central Centre room at OPTCL.

Consumers affected and restoration plan:

Around 115 nos. of 33 KV feeders which supply power to 34 lakh number of consumers were affected (SOUTHCO -1.63 lakh, NESCO -15 lakh and CESU -17 lakh area.

By 5 PM on Wednesday, all 33 KV & 11 KV feeder and DTs were restored in Southco (Ganjam district). Supply to almost all consumers in SOUTHCO has been restored.

Power supply to all division areas under CESU area except Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada Nimapada, Mrshaghai and Paradip division has been restored. The district HQ and Block HQ of the above area will be restored by tonight. By next day evening balance areas of CESU will be restored.

In NESCO area, in Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur district Hqrs, power supply will be restored tonight. In other areas, work will start tomorrow. For Bhadrak Covid Hospital, power was restored and Balasore covid hospital will get power by tonight.

Damages in NESCO areas: 83 Kms of 33 KV line, 396 Kms 11KV line and 855 Kms of LT lines and 162 No of DTs. After completion of detailed survey of lines tomorrow, exact damages and restoration plan for balance areas will be estimated.
