Odisha Congress alleges Rs 4-cr scam in mobile purchase

Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Monday alleged massive corruption committed by the State Government in the purchases of mobile phones for ASHA Workers with the National Health Mission funds.

“The Government has purchased10,925 Samsung A10S mobiles from a particular dealer at Gurgaon in Haryana. The scheduled price for each mobile has been set at Rs 10,950 when the market price of the same mobile is Rs 8,900. The Government has been buying different electronics items from this dealer since 2017. It is estimated that the State exchequer has suffered a loss of Rs 4 crore,” alleged former Minister and senior Congress leader Panchanan Kanungo.

He too alleged that the State Health Mission has changed norms set by the National Health Mission for purchase of mobiles. It has changed size, battery power and ROM of the mobile. Kanungo demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. Among others, Jnanadeb Behera, Sudarshan Das and Manoranjan Dash were present.
