Odisha to conduct investigation to find out presence of formalin in fish stock imported from Andhra Pradesh

Bhubaneswar: After Assam banned fish import, Odisha will conduct investigation to find out presence of cancer causing chemical content (formalin ) in fish stock imported from Andhra Pradesh; Directorate of Fisheries secy asked to conduct an inquiry says Minister Pradeep Maharathy.

“Fish samples imported from Andhra Pradesh will be examined in laboratory and an expert team will be formed for this purpose. Necessary action will be taken following the report of the expert team,” said Maharathy.

The Assam government on Wednesday banned import and sale of fish imported from Andhra Pradesh and other states for a period of 10 days following the presence of cancer causing chemical formalin content in the imported fish.
