Bhubaneswar: Nepal King Gyanendra Birbahadur Shah Deb would visit the Shree Jagannath Temple here on February 11 and offer prayers to the deities. As per the tradition, the King of Nepal enjoys certain special privileges and has special rights to perform puja in the temple.
He would enter the temple at about 11 am and remain in the shrine for about 45 minutes. He would go to the temple accompanied by his royal family pilgrim agent through the South gate and perform puja, archana and alati of the Trinity on the Ratmnasimhasan of the sanctum sanctorum and present gifts to the deities. Then, he would exit through the south gate and observe a parikrama of the temple.
Temple Chief Administrator Pradeep Jena convened a meeting of the Chhatisha Nijog on Monday. As per the schedule fixed for the day, the temple gate would be opened at 3 am and cooked bhog would be offered by 9.30 am. No devotee would be allowed into the temple from 9.30 am till 12.30 am.
The district administration has geared up its programme to conduct the king’s visit smoothly. The Nepal King it is learnt to be on a five-day visit to the State. On February 9, he would grace the Pattavishek ceremony (completion of 25 years on the Sankaracharya seat) of Swami Neeschalananda Saraswati, the Sankaracharya of Gobardhan Peeth.
He would attend a two-day international religious congregation is slated in which many noted Hindu pundits would deliver their addresses in six sessions. The king would visit the Gopinath Dev Temple at Sakhigopal on February 8 morning.
