Heavy rain and subsequent flood have taken 8 lives in Odisha;Train service affected

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain and subsequent flood have taken 8 lives in the State so far. This was informed by the Odisha SRC Bishnupada Sethi. At least 65 residents of Tejipada and Deulipada villages of Kalahandi have been shifted to relief centres and ASHA workers along with doctors have been pressed into action, said the SRC.

Karlamunda area of #Kalahandi district has recorded 608 mm of rain in last 24 hours, the highest amount of rainfall recorded in any block this season, informs SRC BP Sethi. Bolangir (226.3 mm ), Boudh (169.7 mm), Kalahandi (160.4 mm), Sonepur (139. 9 mm) and Kandhamal (125 mm) makes the other places where heavy rain took place.Many parts of western Odisha receive heavy rainfall. Rain water enter houses in Balangir, Sambalpur. Train service affected between Sambalpur and Titilagarh.

Strong current in waterfall inside #Harishankar shrine in Bolangir following heavy rain & landslides; devotees & tourists have been restricted from taking bath in the waterfall as a precautionary measure by the administration .Kalahandi and Nuapada district the collectors declared closure of all schools in the both districts today.
