Farmer Producer Organizations will be strengthened: Madhya Pradesh CM Chouhan

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a discussion with officials at Mantralaya today in connection with some amendments in Mandi Act for the welfare of farmers. CM Shri Chouhan said that the Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) will be strengthened on the lines of self-help groups. For this, work will done on Mission Mode and an institutionalized system will be developed at the state level.

CM Shri Chouhan said that the welfare of farmers has been ensured in the current foodgrain procurement system also. It will be made more organized at the time of the upcoming procurement. Shri Chouhan said that a decision will be taken after considering how the farmers get a better price in this time of competition as per agricultural production. Although the farmers are shielded by minimum support price, necessary steps will be taken for better work in this direction. Various measures will be taken to provide grading and sorting facility of production to the farmers at panchayat level. For this work, the facility will be started soon by working in mission mode.

CM Shri Chouhan said that some amendments are necessary in the ongoing provisions and rules, Mandi Act etc. related to agricultural work for the overall welfare of farmers. Necessary decisions will be taken in this connection later.

Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Shri Kamal Patel, Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri K.K. Singh and Principal Secretary Cooperatives Shri Ajit Kesri were present in the meeting today.
