Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed reviewed the status of ongoing restoration of tele comunication services in Cyclone Fani affected areas.
Minister Pradhan Met with senior officials of BSNL Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and other Telecom infra companies operating in Odisha and reviewed the status of ongoing restoration of telecomunication services in CycloneFani affected areas.
“Four major telecom companies will bring COW (Cell On Wheels) towers to Odisha to restore network coverage completely,” says Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while briefing about the review meeting held today.
CycloneFani has caused massive damage to telecommunication infrastructure in Puri, Khurda and Cuttack districts. Officials informed that Mobile Cell Sites (COWs) are being pressed in services to restore telecommunication services in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Cuttack.
Minister Pradhan requested the officials to work on a war footing to restore mobile telephony, Internet services in Puri. Also urged the telecom companies to shoulder additional responsibility in providing seamless telecommunication services to the people of Odisha in this hour of crisis.
Restoring seamless telecommunication services in Odisha specially Puri will also be important inview of the revered & most anticipated Rath Yatra festival in July, which will attract lakhs of visitors, said Minister Pradhan. Minister Pradhan Also urged BSNL officials to activate OSWAN- Odisha State Wide Area Network and enable Video Ceferencing facility at Blocks of Puri District for efficient monitoring of relief and restoration work in the affected areas.
