Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Friday alleged that the ruling BJD has adopted dual standard on both Mahanadi and Polavaram issues when Union Ministers have assured that Odisha will not suffer any loss for the two projects.
“Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram on Thursday committed to the Parliament that Odisha will never suffer any loss and even not a single tribal family will be displaced for the Polavaram project. Hence, the Chief Minister and the BJD should scrutinise Oram’s statement and take steps accordingly,” said BJP general secretary Bhrugu Buxipatra.
He said the BJD is trying to hoodwink people on the two issues to take political mileage. He demanded that the State Government take early steps to implement the Polavaram authorities’ proposal for construction of a safety embankment to check possible submergence and displacements.
