Adani Dhamra Port organizes Farmers Exposure visit on Livestock Development Program

Dhamra: With an objective to increase the cattle breed improvement & providing modern livestock management practices in Dhamra Port Company Limited (DPCL) periphery villages, Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of DPCL jointly with BAIF had organized a day-long Farmer’s training-cum- Exposure visit on 11th February 2022 to ‘Go Green Dairy Farm located at Angargadiya, Kuradiha, Badasahi, Baripada, Mayurbhanj.

The selected 38 potential livestock owners (Male – 33 & Female – 5) from existing 4 Cattle Development Centers (CDCs) (Dosinga, Jagula, Karanjamal & Karanpali) were actively participated and interacted with the entrepreneur Mr. Sapan Kumar Mahapatra, Farm proprietor. The livestock farmers have visited the fodder cultivation plots, dairy, goat & poultry farming unit, commercial Biogas plant, vermicompost unit, planting material nursery orchards, milk aggregation centers & processing unit etc.

Mr. Mahapatra, explained about the modern livestock management practices can be undertaken by the farmers in taking the advice of Government/private experts/entrepreneurs which will be leading to more profit to farmers apart from agriculture & horticulture enterprises. On other hand, alternative income can be enhanced by recycling of unresidual products to produce organic concentrates, poultry feeding, green fodder cultivation, solar biogas energy for domestic use, adequate use of green & organic products etc., he said

Dr. Santosh Kumar, Sr. Project Officer of BAIF, imparted in house orientation on Dairy, goat & poultry development, the importance of Artificial Insemination (AI), care & management of progeny cows, fodder development, azolla feeding, timely vaccination, use of un residual vermi compost making, development of Bio gas unit etc. The farmers were quite encouraged by visiting the site in order to establish the various livestock interventions in our Dhamra region.

The program was successfully completed in partnership with BAIF Institute for Sustainable Livelihoods and Development.
