Narendrapur: Tata Steel BSL (formerly Bhushan Steel Limited) organised the first ever Art-in-Industry programme, a unique art camp-cum-exhibition at its plant in Dhenkanal in Odisha. Twenty artists from across the country, including from periphery of the plant, had participated in this two day long camp which concluded today.
The programme offered a platform for artistic expression to some of the eminent artists and learning opportunities for budding painters from the locality. In this two day long camp the artists produced 20 beautiful pieces of art which were displayed at the venue. Besides 23 children from the schools around the steel major’s plant including Kusupanga high school, Kurunti high school, Khalibaria high school, GMR DAV, Brahmani Public School, etc., who were chosen from an art competition, also participated in the camp and honed their skill under the tutelage of the great masters.
The camp-cum-exhibition was curated by noted artist Mr Bikram Keshari Routray from Bhubaneswar.
Mr Rajeev Singhal, Managing Director, Tata Steel BSL formally inaugurated the art exhibition by participating artists who displayed their work of arts at the end of the two day long residential art camp. The dignitaries also felicitated the 23 budding artists who were overwhelmed with the experience of working with senior painters of national repute.
Lauding the initiative of the steel major eminent painter from Amritsar Mr Balram Gambhir said such camps are the need of the hour to bring national level discourse on the subject to interior places so that art does not remain confined to big cities alone. He encouraged the young artists to pursue their passion seriously.
Thanking the artists for participating in the programme Mr Singhal said, “as a responsible corporate Tata Steel BSL, along with extending support to the communities in the field of education, health, livelihood, etc. also promotes sports, literature, artistic expression in line with the philosophy of Tata Group. We stay committed to create more such platforms in future.”
