Barapali: Shoes hurled at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while addressing a public meeting at Kumbhari in Barpali as part of campaigning for Bijepur Bypoll . A youth today hurled shoes at Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik when he was addressing a public meeting at Kumbhari of Barpali in Bargarh district to campaign for his party candidate Rita Sahu for the Bijepur by-election, which is scheduled to be held on February 24.
The alerted security personnel averted the shoe attack and escorted the CM away unhurt.
The youth identified as Kartik Meher was immediately overpowered by party workers and police present here. Later he was admitted to Barpali hospital and has been detained by Bargarh police. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
