Bhubaneswar: The Career Advisory Committee, Business Management, conducted a Leadership Talk on 15th of July, 2018 at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar on the topic, “Managing Teams – Experiences in Indian Oil”.
Shri Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra (Director (Human Resources), Board of Indian Oil Corporation (Indian Oil)) was the esteemed speaker for the day. This leadership talk enabled the students to learn about Team Building and Management, from real time experience from the esteemed speaker himself.
Shri Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra spoke about the importance of identifying team members as individuals with their both their strengths and flaws, harnessing their strengths and working on their flaws. He also emphasized on the importance of leadership in a team, and how an ideal leader is not just responsible for the role allotted, but for leading the team ahead. He also spoke about risks in decision-making.
Focusing on team management, he prioritized appreciating the entire team in case of success, and giving constructive feedbacks individually. He also suggested on being empathetic as a person, which would provide an edge as well as create a difference in the society and the organization. He concluded his talk by advising the future managers in the audience to try fulfilling their personal goals, by achieving the organizational goals.
The talk followed by an interactive Q&A session with the students in the audience. Prof. M.N. Tripathi (Professor in Marketing, XIMB) ended the session by extending a vote of thanks to the speaker.
