Wrestler Vinesh Phogat wins gold medal for India, CM Naveen Patnaik congratulates Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia

New Delhi: Wrestler Vinesh Phogat wins gold medal in 50kg freestyle. This is India’s 2nd Gold and 5th medal of the tournament.

Vinesh became the first Indian woman wrestler to win an Asian Games gold. Vinesh completely dominated the contest, taking a 4-0 lead initially before stretching it further to 6-2 to pocket the yellow metal.

Vinesh has been in top form today at the Asian Games, winning her semi-final against Daulatbike Yakshimuratova of Uzbekistan in just 75 seconds by technical superiority.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia for winning gold medals for India in the ongoing 18th Asian Games in Jakarta of Indonesia. Vinesh won a gold medal in the 50kg women’s freestyle event, India’s first-ever gold in women’s wrestling, on the second day of the Asian Games 2018 on Monday.

Similarly, Bajrang Punia gave India its first gold medal at the 18th edition of Asian Games with an 11-8 victory over Japan’s Takatani Daichi in the men’s freestyle 65 kg final on Sunday.
