Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur Jun 05. The World Environment Day- 2021 was celebrated at Paradip Refinery on Saturday, by organizing several activities on the theme -“Ecosystem Restoration” and with compliance to Covid protocol.
Mr VS Jain, Executive Director, and Refinery Head inaugurated the celebration and pledged attending IOCL stakeholders to maintain Ecosystem restoration. Paradip Refinery has taken up several activities to improve resource utilization efficiency, such as fresh water reduction by using Sewage treated water in lawn irrigation and use of Solar Photo Voltaic cell for generating green power, thereby reducing fossil fuel usage, use of bio digester unit to covert waste into bio-gas etc .
Paradip Refinery’s commitment towards eco-friendly environment in and around is demonstrated through greenery in the refinery complex, green township and a grand ecological park with biodiversity features developed over a large area, ED Mr Jain revealed.
. On the occasion of World Environment Day, plantation of saplings was done by ED &RH along with Senior officials and representatives. To bring mass awareness, the activities like slogan, quiz competitions and suggestion drive were arranged for the employees.
