Lanjigarh: Vedanta has started free tutorial classes for the students of class 10th in its periphery villages with an objective to support the young students in the region. The 4-month program aims at preparing the underprivileged and academically weak students for the upcoming matriculation examination in 2018. More than 500 students from New Govt. High School – Lanjigarh, SSD High School- Lanjigarh, Shree Jaggarnath High School – Jodabandh; Indira Gandhi High School- Ambodala and SSD High School – Ambodala will be benefitting this year from the initiative. Subjects like Mathematics, Science and English are being given much importance by the tutors. FIDR, a renowned NGO in this field, has also been engaged by Vedanta for effective implementation.
During its inaugural ceremony today on 23rd Nov 2017, more than 150 students along with their teachers and guardians were present during the event at SSD High School, Lanjigarh. Mr. Mahendra Raut, Head HR Vedanta limited, Lanjigarh, Mr. Biraja Shankar Mund – Head CPP, Mr. Chandradhwaj Pesnia – Ex Sarpanch, Lanjigarh, Mrs. Mani Majhi, Sarpanch – Lanjigarh, Mr. Bijit Kumar Naik – Head Master, SSD High School- Lanjigarh, Mr. Uday Kumar, Mr. Suresh Agrawal, Mr. Uday Kumar, Mrs. Harmeet Sehra, Head CSR Vedanta limited, Lanjigarh along with Mr. Sanjib Dash, Head Project – FIDR were present among others.
It is noteworthy that out of 199 students registered in this program from the community, 86 students had secured first class and approximately 97% students passed with flying colours last year.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Raut reiterated the commitment of Vedanta towards partnering the community development initiatives in the region and urged the students to take advantage of the opportunity and put in their hard work for the upcoming board exams. Mr. Mund appealed every student to study hard and do something good for their families and our nation.
All the community members and students present in the occasion appreciated the efforts of Vedanta for taking up and supporting various community development initiatives through its CSR interventions.
