Vedanta Presented Vedanta Gyanshree Award to the meritorious students of Odisha

Bhawanipatna : In its persistence to promote quality education in the district, the company felicitated seven meritorious students this year of class 10th and +2 with the coveted “Vedanta Gyanshree Award 2017” during the 21st Kalahandi Utsav Ghumura, held at Bhawanipatna. The students are Ms. Niharika Lahajal (Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Brajavihar), Mr. Binayak Mishra (Durga Madhab Ucha Bidyapitha, M. Rampur), Mr. Aman Rath (Vimla Convent School, Bhawanipatna), Ms. Subhangi Pattnaik (Vimla Convent School, Bhawanipatna), Ms. Swapnita Sahu (Vimla Convent School, Bhawanipatna), Mr. Pratik Behera (Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bhawanipatna) and Ms. Pragati Bansal (Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bhawanipatna). Mr. Bimalananda Senapati, Plant Head, Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh bestowed the students with a laptop and a memento to their parents and teachers.
The four day mega annual cultural event of Kalahandi district – Kalahandi Utsav Ghumura concluded its proceedings on 28th March. Inaugurated on the 25th of this month, the program was organized by the District Council of Culture at Bhawanipatna. During the final day, Dr. Brundha D, Collector and Magistrate, Kalahandi, Mr. Bikram Keshari Pattnaik, District judge, Kalahandi and Mr. Vineet Bharadwaj, PD DRDA, Kalahandi were present along with Mr. Bimalananda Senapati, Plant Head, Vedanta limited, Lanjigarh among other dignitaries. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Senapati stressed upon the need of Industrialization in Kalahandi district. Citing examples of dying industries in the district, he highlighted that developed towns in the state are doing good because of industrialization in those areas. He also urged people of Kalahandi to come forward and support Industrialization and other beneficiary projects for the development of the region.
Besides this, Vedanta had also put a corporate stall during the four-day event which showcased the company’s branding propositions including its business portfolio, CSR efforts and people-connect initiatives. The main attraction point of the stall was the sand-art display, designed by one of the company’s employee. Visitors praised CSR efforts of Vedanta and its contribution towards development of the region. Present on the occasion were Mr. Mahendra Raut, Head HR, Mr. Shibadatta Mishra and other CSR and PR officials of the company.
