Jharsuguda : In February, Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda was conferred with two coveted awards for excellence in CSR and Social Sustainability – Platinum Award at Apex India CSR Excellence Award 2018 and Gold Award at 6th Annual Greentech CSR Award 2018.
On 26th February, Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda, bagged Gold Award in Metals & Mining category at the 6th Annual Greentech CSR Award 2018 for outstanding achievement in Corporate Social Responsibility. Ms Kanchan Nagesia, CSR Dept., received the award on behalf of the organization, from Shri Kamleshwar Sharan, Chairman & CEO Greentech Foundation, and Shri R.K.Dubey, Former CMD, Canara Bank and Chief Advisor Greentech Foundation. The Greentech CSR Award is presented to organizations and NGOs demonstrating highest level of commitment to CSR and showcasing exemplary impact to society.
On 18th February, Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda, won Platinum Award in Metal & Mining Sector at the Apex India CSR Excellence Award 2018 for its Sustainable Livelihood & Women Empowerment project ‘Subhalaxmi Cooperative’. Ms Alka Minj, CSR Dept. received the award on behalf of the organization from Shri Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament, in presence of Honourable Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Maj. Gen. (Retd.) P.K. Sehgal, Defence Expert, DATO, Dr. Kanagaraja Raman, President, Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health Practitioners’ Association (MOSHPA) and other eminent personalities.
Speaking on the awards, Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO – Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda said, “At Vedanta, CSR is core to our operations and gives us the social license to operate. Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda’s CSR efforts are focused on 5 dimensions – Sustainable Livelihood & Women Empowerment, Health & Sanitation, Quality Education, Community Infrastructure & Bio-Investment, and Sports & Culture. The company’s CSR efforts reach out to 64 nearby villages, covering 66000 people annually. It empowers more than 3700 women of nearly 313 SHGs, provides doorstep healthcare services to about 25000 people annually, gives educational support to more than 5000 students, has planted more than 1.43 lakh trees in partnership with the community and built 568 plus infrastructural projects at community level.
