Vedanta launches self-defence training for high school students at Lanjigarh

Lanjigarh: Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh in partnership with Utkal Karate School, Lanjigarh launched a self-defence training program for the students of New Government High School, Lanjigarh. The objective of this initiative is to teach the young to defend themselves at times of crises and danger. Considering self-defence as an important life skill to have, where sometimes cases of such issues go unnoticed, the initiative would be a great help to the young students of the school.
Present during the inaugural session were Mr Sanjay Kumar Mandal, IIC, Lanjigarh Police Station, Ms. Mani Majhi, Sarpanch – Lanjigarh panchayat, Mr Chandradhwaj Pesnia and Mr Kamaraj Dalbehera as School Committee members (SMC), Mr Sanjeev Kumar Naik, Block Education Officer (BEO), Mr Shivanand Mohanty, Head – PR and Corporate Communications, Ms Harmeet Sehra, Chief Community Development Officer, students and teachers of the New Government High School. The dignitaries focused on the importance of everyone learning self-defence in the present times. They reiterated on the necessity of women learning self-defence to protect themselves from any crime or danger that comes their way.
On behalf of Utkal Karate School, Mr Suresh Jal Yadav and Mr K N Mahakud are the instructors for the students. The training classes will regularly take place for eight days in a month for 9th and 10th standard students. This training program has been initiated by Vedanta Limited under the theme ‘Be Safe, Learn the Art’.
Present on the occasion were students of the school, teachers, Vedanta CSR officials and intellectuals of the region.
