Bhubaneswar: Employees of Vedanta’s– Aluminium Business contributedINR 24.3lacsto the Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, to support the people affected by the spate of devastating cyclone, ‘Fani’, on Friday. Demonstrating theircommitment to stand in solidarity with the people of Odisha, employees of Vedanta Ltd.’sJharsuguda and Lanjigarh units haveextended their support to the government’s rehabilitation efforts towards the affected areas of Odisha by contributing a day’s salary.
Speaking on behalf of the employees, Ajay Kapur, CEO – Aluminium & Power, Vedanta Ltd. said, “We are extremely concerned by the devastation in Odisha due to the aftermath of Cyclone Fani. We stand with the state administration and the people of Odisha in these times of distress. For relief and restoration works, our employees have contributed INR 24.3lacs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. We have also contributed to relief operations at Puri partnering the Puri District Administration, Bharat Scouts & Guides and the village Youth Clubs and we are still continuing with electrical restoration support in the affected areas. We will continue to support the State Govt. in its efforts to restore normalcy to Odisha.”
Post cyclone Fani, Vedanta University Project immediately undertook relief and aid work at multiple locations in Puri, which were severely impacted by the super cyclone. 4000 relief packets consisting pulses, edible oil, biscuits and a tarpaulin sheet each are currently being distributed to 4000 families in six villages of Puri – Nalihana, Chaitana, Bhuan, Gadabhingura, Beldal and Gaindol. The company also supplied drinking water to Nalihana village for mitigating water crisis.
