Kanhia: 83rd Utkal Diwas was celebrated at Talcher Kaniha on April 1, 2018 by Utkal Diwas Celebration Committee, NTPC Kaniha. The event is celebrated in the memory of the formation of the state as a separate state as a separate province on April 1,1936.
Chief Guest Shri Ram Kuber,Executive Director, Talcher Kaniha and Chief Speaker Retd,Professor Santanu Kumar Sara,Dept.,Govt. College ,Angul inaugurated the event by lighting the lamps, followed by flower tribute to legendary personalities of state of Odisha.The welcome address was given by Shri P R Barik, Secretray,Utkal DiwasCelebration Committee.
On the occasion Chief Guest ,Executive Director, Shri Kuber in his address conveyed good wishes to all employees on the Utkal Diwas celebration.Shri Kuber mentioned the importance of great leaders of Odisha and their contribution towards formation of Odisha state and promotion of Odia literature. He said Odisha is known for its variant culture and rich heritage.
“Odisha is internationally known as Land of Jagannath. People from all over the world come to witness Sun Temple, Konark for its magnificent art & architecture. Orissa is the state of rich minerals which attracts huge investment not only in India & but also abroad. NTPC as power major is also playing a significant role with presence of three power plants in the state contributing to the Odisha Economy”, said Shri Kuber.
Chief Speaker, Professor Santanu Kumar Sara Retd.Head of the English Dept.,Govt. College ,Angul Santanu Kumar Sara in his address briefed the contribution of eminent personalities of Odisha like Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das, Utkala mani Gopabandhu Das in making the state independent and how the state was formed based on odia language. He added Odia people have the tremendous capabilities & talent which can make contribution to development of odia language & economic development.
To celebrate the day, various cultural programme e.g traditional form of dance like Odishi & other traditional were perfomed by artists .Prior to the Utkal Diwas various competitions like debate ,sloka , pitha, fancy dress ,singing ,shanko baja,hulihuli & jhuti competition etc were organised .The competitions were participated in huge numbers by employees and their family members.
On this occasion four girl children namely Miss Subhra Suchismita Patel ,Miss Sanvi Sandeepika.,Miss Anuja Das Mahapatra & Miss Padmashree Mohanty of the township were awarded with Kanya Ratna Award for their remarkable contribution in various fields. The
