Universal Brotherhood Day celebration by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Bhubaneswar Branch

Bhubaneswar: Marking the 126th Anniversary celebration of Swami Vivekananda’s epic Chicago address in The World Parliament of Religions, city wing of Vivekananda Kendra KanyaKumari organised a special ceremony at Bhubaneswar, today.

Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and MSME Shri Pratap Chandra Sarangi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion Shri Sarangi recounted various instances to assert that Swami Vivekananda is the pride of India and not confined to any particular region or state. Extensively quoting from the famous Chicago speech of Swami Vivekananda he highlighted the need for universal brotherhood and urged the students and the audience to get inspired from the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and his verses on life and love for the nation. If today’s youth get inspired to follow the words and ideas of Swami Vivekananda, the face of the nation would get transformed, he added.
Among others, Bibekananda Mahapatra, former Engineer in Chief, Odisha graced the event as guest of honour, City President of Vivekananda Kendra KanyaKumari Bhubaneswar branch and former Director NIT Rourkela Prof. G K Roy, and Secretary of the city branch of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari Santap Kumar Jena were present on the occasion.
Winners of various school level competitions organised by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari in Bhubaneswar in the first week of September were also felicitated with prizes and citations on this occasion. It may be noted here that a Group Surya Namaskar competition was held by the Kendra wherein 10 schools of the city participated. DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar won the first prize in group Surya Namaskar competition while the 2nd prize went to DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur. Guru Nanak E. M. Public School won the 3rd prize in the competition.
Also, the winners of the interschool completion on Odia and English recitation of the epic speech of Swami Vivekananda held in the first week of September were felicitated on this occasion. Lipsa Mishra from Vikash Residential School won the first prize in Odia recitation while Amrita Mishra from SAI International School and Gopal Krushna Mishra from Amrita Vidyalayam won the 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. Similarly in English recitation of Swamiji’s speech, Pratistha Bairisal from BJEM School, won the first prize while Sabhyata Sahu from Vikash Residential School and Soubhagya Kumar Dash from Sivananda Centenary Boys High School, won the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
