Union Minster Radha Mohan Singh urges ICAR-CIFA to play a key role in Blue Revolution

Bhubaneswar: Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister, Shri Radha Mohan Singh graced the 30th Annual Day Celebrations of ICAR-CIFA. On this occasion, the Minister of Agriculture congratulated the officers and employees of the Institute for 31st foundation day. ICAR-CIFA was established on 1st April 1987 under the auspices of Indian Agriculture Research Council, New Delhi. Dr. J.K.Jena, Deputy Director General, Fisheries Science welcomed the gathering and elaborated the various technological offerings that ICAR-CIFA can contribute to the nation. The Hon’ble Minister pointed out that the institute has earned a specific identity on the national and international level in the arena of freshwater aquaculture due to hard work exercised out by the scientists, officers and employees. The minister released the technology of “Mobile Fish Vending Unit” and various publications. He stressed that the Union Government is going to implement the “Blue Revolution” scheme in a bigger way for the benefit of the fishers and fish farmers of the country. He urged ICAR-CIFA scientists to play a vital role in the “Blue Revolution” scheme. He also gave away various institute awards to the awardee staff members. Dr.Trilochan Mohapatra, Director General of ICAR and Secretary, DARE opined that the technological advances so far made in the institute should reach the farmers. Shri Chhablendra Roul, Additional Secretary, DARE; Dr. H. Rehman, former DDG (Animal Science), ICAR and Shri. Sunil Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor (DARE/ICAR) also attended the function. Dr. J. K. Sundaray, Director (I/c), ICAR-CIFA assured that the institute would act as an active “Knowledge Partner”, will deliver its maximum potential towards the successful Blue Revolution Scheme and he thanked the dignitaries and audience.
