Union Minister Jual Oram said no coordination between various departments in Odisha to implement FRA

Bhubaneswar: In reaction to the letter by Odisha C.M. with regard to letter’s proposal for amendments in to Forest Rights Act, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram has said that there is no coordination between various departments in Odisha to implement the provision of the FRA, a Central Act. Out of 1,86,000 cases only 47,161 cases have been cleared for RoR in Odisha. The C.M. has attributed it to Gram Sabhas, which do not deal with individual cases. The fault lies with the District level and Sub-Divisional level bodies The C.M. Odisha in not keen to implement the provisions of the FRA, a Central Act of 2006. He wants to dilute the purpose of the Act by including individuals like Sanatan Mahakud, who has been an encroacher of the Forest land and the State Govt. has not been able to evict him. Forest dwellers are those who live on forest minor products and not mining mafias like Sanatan Mahakud, the Minister reacted. He has said in the press release that he will issue a suitable replay to the CM, on his return to Delhi on the 22nd instant.
