Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urges CM Naveen Patnaik to speed up Rourkela Smart City project

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and MoS Hardeep Singh Puri urging to expedite the projects under the Rourkela Smart City Limited (RSL).

Citing information obtained through RTI Act, Dharmendra said in the letter that Government of India and Government of Odisha have sanctioned Rs 376 crore (Rs 188 crore each) to RSL from 2015-16 to 2017-18, but only Rs 22.23 crore has been expended.

“It is unfortunate that four years since the sanction of grants from the Central and the State Government, RSL has not been able to show significant progress in the project,” he wrote.

The Union Minister has written separately to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Urban Development Minister Hardip Singh Puri seeking their personal intervention in the matter to expedite the project.
