Bhubaneswar: The grand finale of Smart India Hackathon-2017 was inaugurated at 7:30 A.M. on 1st April at C.V. Raman College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar. Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Accompanying him there were other guests like Sri. Harkesh Kumar Mittal Adviser, Member Secretary National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Sri A.P. Mittal, Member Secretary AICTE and Dr. Suman Govil, Advisor Department of BioTechnology (DBT). Along with Sri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Leader , BJP legislative Party , Odisha and Sri Bhrugu Baxipatra President Juba Morcha, Bharatiya Janata Party.
The chief guest Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated all the people of Odisha on celebrating the Odisha Day (Utkala Dibasa). As regards the Hackathon he passed on the prime minister’s message to develop creative skills among the young people of the country. This programme is going to inculcate in the student’s the desire to excel in finding solution to varied problems of the country. On this occasion he inaugurated an advance Center of Excellence on Air Conditioning and Refregereation.
Chairman C.V. Raman College of Engineering Sri Sanjib Rout congratulated the participants on reaching the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon. He inspired them with the words that winning is not the goal but participation is so.
The other dignitaries on the dais inspired the students to showcase their talents during this two day Hackathon and make the best use of the platform provided by Ministry of HRD and AICTE.
The inaugural session was marked by Video Speech of Hon’ble Minister of HRD, Sri Prakash Javadekar, Chairman AICTE Sri. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe and Sri Anand Deshpande Co-Chair AICTE.
Smart India Hackathon 2017 is a Govt of India initiative to create a platform for harvesting the creativity and energy of our youngsters for the development of our nation.
Smart India Hackathon 2017 is expected to become the ‘world’s biggest open innovation model’ that other countries can replicate: Since Hackathon as a concept is new to India, AICTE arranged 26 awareness workshops across India to sensitize students about Smart India Hackathon 2017. These workshops helped connect students to the problems of our nation. Out of the 7531 idea submissions received for the 598 problems posted by 29 govt. departments, 1266 ideas have been shortlisted for the ‘Grand Finale’ on April 1 & 2, 2017, during which these teams will work nonstop for 36 hours to build products based on their ideas, across 26 locations in India. Out of 26 location through the country C.V. Raman College of Engineering is the only center in the State of Odisha.
