UAIL, Rayagada focuses on green energy, installs chip based LED solar street lights

Report by Badal Tah; Rayagada, September 13: Responding to the clarion call of PM Narendra Modi to provide basic facilities like “Sadak, Pani & Bijli”, the CSR wing of Utkal Alumina International Ltd(UAIL) has electrified the main road at Tikiri, Kashipur. It has gone a step forward by avoiding grid energy and promoted green energy by putting 75 LED based street lights with sensory chips as a part of peripheral development. These modern solar lights will have unique feature to take charge from sun in the morning and light the streets in the night and with an auto control will conserve energy by switching off while there will be day light.

This project got jointly inaugurated by Rayagada MLA Sri Makaranda Muduli and Sri N Nagesh, Unit Head and President, Utkal Alumina, UAIL.https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif Speaking in this occasion Sri N. Nagesh said, “We are committed to Ideology of “Growing Together”. We have always strived for all-round development of the people and the community through many CSR initiatives to raise the living standard of society surrounding us. And UAIL has been working with the people and for the people.”

Mr. Mazhar Beig, Joint President UAIL, Chairperson of Kashipur Panchayat Samiti Smt. Ruai Majhi, Mr. Sankarshan Naik, Vice-Chariman Kashiupr Panchayat Samiti, Mr. Soubhgya Behera, Tahasildar Kashipur, Ms. Sugyani Sahoo, IIC Tikiri, Mr. K.C. Bhatra, IIC Doraguda, Mr. Nila Jhodia, ZP member Tikiri, Smt. Kumari Bikida, Sarapancha Tikiri, Mr. Manoj Patra Samiti Sabhya Tikiri were among the dignitaries present in the occasion along with many people from the village.

As a responsible corporate, UAIL, a subsidiary of HINDALCO Industries Limited owned by Aditya Birla group of companies, is committed to complement these themes. So this Solar street lights project to boost the infrastructure facilities in this part of the hinterland. Several other projects have been taken up by us as a part of CSR in addition to the contribution to District Mineral Fund(DMF) under the chairmanship of Collector, Rayagada under MMDR Act. We need to prioritise & communitize our utillisation of the resources available with us while our country is facing a deep recession”, said Dr.Lopamudra Priyadarshini, who recently joined UAIL as its General Manager, Sustainability & Community Relations.
