UAIL PROMOTES LOCAL CULTURE THROUGH TRIBAL DANCE DHEMSA

Report by Badal Tah; Rayagada: Utkal Alumina International Ltd., a unit of Aditya Birla Group in Kashipur Block of Rayagada district is committed to preserve and promote tribal folk dance “Dhemsa”. The company has been organizing this unique Dhimsa Dance Festival since last 8 years and it received overwhelming response from amongst the villagers of the periphery.

This year also, the company organized Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti at Nuapada Township (Helipad Ground). As many as 23 teams from the peripheral villages participated in a competition in the first day of Dhimsa Dance Festival i.e. on 5th March. Hon’ble MLA, Rayagada Shri Makaranda Muduli Inaugurated the program as Chief Guest in the presence of the Unit Head & President – Utkal Alumina, Mr. N. Nagesh and Mr Mazharullah Beig (Joint President-Engineering). The Chief Guest, Hon’ble MLA, Rayagada Shri Makaranda Muduli, applauded the organization’s effort to preserve and encourage the local primitive folk dance. Unit Head and President Sri. Nagesh while speaking to the audience assured the community of the organization’s commitment towards their overall wellbeing.

On the second day, the Hon’ble Minister, Planning & Convergence and Commerce & Transport, Govt. of Odisha Shri Padmanav Behera attended the program as Chief Guest, while Hon’ble Minister of State S.T. & S.C Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of Odisha Shri Jagannath Saraka Hon’ble M.P Rajyasabha Shri N. Bhaskar Rao, Hon’ble MLA, Rayagada Shri Makaranda Muduli, Hon’ble MLA, Gunupur Shri Raghunath Gamango, Advisor- Biju Swashtya Kalyana Yojana, Govt. of Odisha Shri Sudhir Kumar Das and Sub-Collector, Rayagada Shri Pratap Chandra Pradhan attended as Guest of Honor.

Hon’ble Minister,Shri Padmanav Behera while addressing the audience, has applauded the efforts of a corporate house like Utkal Alumina in promoting the culture of the society. He also hopes that this effort of UAIL will find hidden talents who will further exhibit their dance in the district and state level.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Jagannath Saraka , Hon’ble M.P Rajyasabha both the MLA , Advisor-BSKY, Sub-Collector-Rayagada also lauded the efforts of the company and said that such type of cultural activity will definitely encourage the local artists..

Sri N. Nagesh, Unit Head and President Utkal Alumina International Limted speaking this occasion mentioned that, Utkal Alumina is always committed for enhancing Art & Culture of this area and further we can take it to national and international level. By further accelerating such efforts in the future.

On this great occasion Mr Uma Sankar Majhi (OAS), Mr Gyana Ranjan Majhi (OAS), Ms Suhila Majhi ( Weight Lifting) , Sri Laxman Nayak ( Karate), Sri Kameswar Sahu in the field of Social work from Kashipur Block were felicitated by the company. The Dignitaries offered a shawl & citation for his contribution.

It is notable to see Mailiguda Tribal dance Group as the winner of this Tribal Dimsa Dance competition, Sanamatikana becoming the First Runners up and K.Siriguda as Second Runners up among 23 tribal dance group from different periphery villages those were participated in the dance competition from Kashipur Block on 1st day of the function i.e on 5th March 2020

Mr. T.M. Prakash (V.P. HR & IR), Mr Siba Sankar Mahapatra, G.M, (CSR, R&R and Land & Liaison), Dr. Lopamudra Priyadarshini (G.M. Sustainability & Community Relations) and other officials from Utkal Alumina welcomed the Guests as well as encouraged the local artists for their participation in the mega cultural extravaganza.

On the second day, dance troupes from Swar Sagar, Rayagada; Female employees of CSR Utkal Alumina performed colorful dances for the audience. Executives of Utkal Alumina participated the program along with their family members. More than 5000 people witnessed the two days program.
