Report by Badal kumar Tah; Rayagada: The Tripartite Meeting on Implementation Status of 11th conference on Mines safety Under the ageis DG Mines safety for Hindalco Coal & Bauxite mines was held at Bhubaneswar under the chairmanship of Mr. Subhro Bagchi, Dy. Director General (Mines Safety). This meeting is to provide a platform for participative discussion between DGMS, Union and Management.
Different topics on measures and best practices of mines safety were discussed during the meeting. Various issues including statutory manpower, Vocational training centres, PME, maintenance of sub-stations, workshops, dust management, gas analysis, fire control cell, health & safety of workers etc. were discussed in detail. The meeting started with one minute silence in the honor of mines martyrs.
While addressing the meeting Mr. Bagchi said that participation in the meeting was very encouraging. “The need of the hour is to implement the suggestions given”, he said. Mr. Bagchi also applauded the efforts of Utkal Alumina for its effort to maintain an “accident free” mines. He suggested to bring improvement on each and every aspect of safety. Mr. SK Mishra, Owner – Baphlimali Bauxite Mines & Chairman Utkal Alumina International Ltd. assured that they will be following the path shown by DGMS and implement each of the suggestions came from DGMS. Mr. BRK Padhi, Head – Baphlimali Bauxite Mines thanked DGMS for their time and valuable suggestions.
Among others, the meeting was attended by DGMS senior officials represented by Supriyo Chakraborty, Dy. Director General, Anand Agarwal, Director Electrical, P. K. Singh, Director Mechanical, Anil Toppo, Dy. Director Electrical, Suresh Kumar Pedada, Dy. Director Mechanical, Umesh Kumar Sahu, Dy. Director Mechanical, Ujjwal Tah, Director Mining, MK Gupta, Dy. Director Mining, Saifullah Ansari, Director Mining, MK Sahoo, Dy. Director Mining, SK Mishra, (Mine Owner – Baphlimali Bauxite Mines, M/S Utkal Alumina Itl. Ltd.), BK Jha, (Mines Owner & Agent of Hindalco), BMS General Secretary, Rajbansh Singh from Jharakhanda, BRK Padhi, Agent, Baphlimali Mines and contractors along with workers representative.
