Lanjigarh: A three-days ‘Children Fest’ of DAV Vedanta International School concluded today at Lanjigarh. The celebration involved the participation of more than 800 children of the school. Scintillating performances by the students in dance, singing and skits left the audience mesmerized. Winners of all the competitions organised during these three days were also awarded by the guests. In order to promote and recognize young scientists at school level, a science exhibition was organized wherein participating students demonstrated various models on different scientific areas. A blood donation camp was also organized by the school management in partnership with Vedanta Hospital and District Red Cross Society, Kalahandi in which parents, local youth and other volunteers donated bood for the needy.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Mr. Anjan Kumar Manik – IAS, Collector & DM, Kalahandi appreciated the efforts of Vedanta and DAV towards encouraging quality education in the region and sought everyone’s support to transform the district into a model of development. Mr. Bimalananda Senapati, COO, Vedanta Lanjigarh and the Chairman of School Management Committee reiterated the commitment of Vedanta towards the development of the region as he urged everyone to support the collective initiatives by the company and the communities.
It is noteworthy that Vedanta has been implementing various CSR projects for children which include running of 36 child care centers, an English medium school – DAV Vedanta International School and supporting the Government with mid-day meal kitchen in the region.
The programme was anchored by Mrs. Shukla Chakraborty, Principal – DAV Vedanta International School, Lanjigarhin which more than 1000 parents and guardians were present to witness live performances by the students and enjoy.
The event was also brought alive by the presence of Mr. Jogavyasa Bhoi, renowned mountaineer, Mr. Jalaj Malpani, CFO – Vedanta Lanjigarh, Mr. Suraj Kumar Pattnaik, Tahasildar- Lanjigarh, Mr. Sanjib Nayak, Block Education Officer – Lanjigarh and Mr. Mahendra Raut – Head HR, Vedanta Lanjigarh among other dignitaries.
