Tata Steel and Tata Steel Mining bag the prestigious Kalinga Safety Awards 2019

Bhubaneswar: For displaying exceptional excellence in safety practices, various units of Tata Steel in Odisha have bagged the prestigious Kalinga Safety Awards 2019. At the 11th Odisha State Safety Conclave (OSSC) 2020 held on March 12, Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys Plant (FAP), Bamnipal and Tata Steel Mining’s Ferro Alloys Plant (FAP), Athagarh were conferred with the awards in Gold Category. At the same time, Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys Plant (FAP) at Joda received the award in Silver Category.
In a function held at Hotel New Marrion, Bhubaneswar, Dr Surya Narayan Patra, Hon’ble Speaker, Odisha Legislative Assembly and Mr Bishnupada Sethi, Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of Odisha presented the awards to the winners. Mr Alok Panda, Senior Manager, E&I and Mr Chandan Das, Manager, Safety & Environment received the Gold category award on behalf of Tata Steel’s FAP Bamnipal. Mr M C Thomas, MD, TSML along with Mr B D Nanda, Senior GM, Ferro Alloys and Mr Sidharth Seth, ADM Operations, Athagarh received the Gold category award on behalf of Tata Steel Mining. Similarly, Mr G P Sahu, Head, FAP and Mr Naba Mishra, General Secretary, FAP Employee Union received the Silver category award from the dignitaries on behalf of FAP Joda. While FAP, Joda bagged the prestigious award for the fourth consecutive time, FAP Bamnipal received its first award this year.
Leaders from major mining and construction industries, industrial experts and eminent guests were present at the conclave that was organized by Institute of Quality & Environment Management Services (IQEMS) in collaboration with Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad and Odisha State Productivity Council, Bhubaneswar.
‘Kalinga Safety Award’ is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in India that recognizes exceptional contributions made by organisations in different categories and awards industries who have displayed optimum excellence in their safety practices.
