“Swatchata Hi Seva” Campaign Drive Organized By Regional Sericultural Research Station at Koraput

Report by Nishapati Nayak, Koraput: Regional Sericultural Research Station, Central Silk Board, Koraput has organized a cleanliness drive campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva” (SHS) from 15th September to 2nd October, 2017.

During the campaign Swachhata drive activities were taken up in the office campus and its adjacent villages of RSRS, Koraput, Landiguda, creating awareness among the people under participatory mode of approach. Two villages, Gaudaguda and Landiguda were cleaned with the active participation of the people, village leaders and the officials of RSRS, Koraput on dated 23.09.2017 and 25.09.2017 respectively.

The people were advised on the necessity of cleanliness to keep hygienic condition of the environment for good health, avoiding use of plastic and polythene bags also. Bleaching powder was sprayed after removing garbages lying in the village surroundings, to create awareness among the people to keep their surrounding clean. They were provided with tips for keeping away from the mosquitoes and flies by use of Bleaching powder in drains, avoiding stagnation of water and few drops kerosene for keeping mosquitoes and flies away from laying eggs and protect themselves from hyper-endemic diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Cholera is in the area. Slogans on cleanliness “Swachhata starts at home” were conveyed to the villagers. On 02.10.2017 a mass drive was taken up to clean office surrounding and quarters in the campus.

In the above programme all the officials’ and officer’ including farm works participated in the programme under leadership of Dr. K.C. Brahma, Scientist-D & head of the centre and made successful to the programme.
