Bhubaneswar : The St. Xaviers High School, Patia Celebrated it’s 2nd annual sports day at KIIT football ground. Today the atmosphere of the school took a festive look. A great interest was observed among the students, teachers and parents. The Augustus program started with the inauguration by Mr. Prabhu Charan Mohanty, Director, St. Xavier’s Group of School. Mrs. Nicola Harry, Principal of the school encouraged the students with his vibrating speech. Dr. Charles Lakra, Mrs. Asha TR and the great cine artist Mr. Bijay Kumar Badajena were attended as guest of honour in the inaugural programme. The Chief Guest, Mr. Mohanty hosted the sports Flag and declared the sports meet open. The energetic and dynamic students performed various events like flat race, math race, hopping race, chocolate race, cricket, football, Lemon-Spoon, Relay Race, etc. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. They scorched the racing tracks. Some events were also arranged for the parents by the school.
The valedictory session of the annual sports programme was held at the evening. Former finance minister Mr. Panchanan Kanoongo attended as the chief guest. Samyak Mohanty, Corporate Head, Ms. Barada Mohany, IIPM (Popularly known as Guruma) graced the occasion with their benign presence. The annual report of Xavier high school presented by the principal, Mrs. Nicola Harry and The annual report of Montessori under purple turtle presented by Mrs. Sharmistha Dash, Mont. In-charge. The evening ended with the prize distribution ceremony, where the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour gave away medals and trophies to the sports event winners. Mr. Gabriel Harry, Sr. student of the school got best footballer award and also got best academic student award along with the cash prize of worth Rs.10000/-, Cricketer of the year award given to Mr. Ashirbad Behera and Mrityunjay Tripathy. The best teacher award given to Bichitra bhatta, Sr. teacher. The best staff of the year award presented to Mr. Shyam Hunk Das. Relay race trophy given to Green House and Champion house of the year to Red House. The audience also witnessed enthralling dance performance by the students, filling everyone’s heart. The ceremony was a huge success and concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Amita Rath. She congratulated all the students and their parents. Shyam Hunk Das, Sharmistha Dash, Manjulika Mishra, Malabika Mishra, Sarmistha Kar, Soumyakanta Mishra, Arpita Pragyan Paramita, Pragyan Paramita, Tamana Ray, Pranati Manjari, Debasmita Panigrahi, Namita Sahoo are the teachers who made this event successful.
