SSWB, Odisha pays Tribute to Malati Choudhury on her 113th Birth Anniversary

 

Bhubaneswar: A journey of thousand miles must begin with a single step, is what believes Smt. Latika Pradhan, Chairperson, The State Social Welfare Board (SSWB) Odisha. As an initiative and such step towards making SSWB, Odisha, instrumental in spearheading the movement of women empowerment and child development, The State Social Welfare Board (SSWB), Odisha under the aegis of Women and Child Development Department, Govt. of Odisha in collaboration with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, organized the National Convention on 26th July 2017 at KIIT auditorium. The convention is a tribute to the fearless freedom fighter and Founder Chairperson of SSWB, Odisha, Lt.Malati Choudhury on her 113th Birth Anniversary. Shri. Prafulla Samal, Hob’ble Minister Women and Child Development Department, Govt. of Odisha, as the Chief Guest, inaugurated the convention and released a video documentary and souvenir “Numa” dedicated to Lt. Malati Choudhury. The event was meticulously managed by a 360 degree media house Prelude.
Dr. Prassana Patasani, Hon’ble MP, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Achyuta Samant, Founder KIIT & KISS, Smt.Kuntala Kumari Acharya, Ex-Chairperson SSWB, Odisha and Commissioner-Cum-Secretary, W & CD, Govt. of Odisha graced the occasion as Guest of honor. Smt.Kuntala Kumari Acharya shared about the contribution of Malati Choudhury in freedom struggle, social welfare and development of the marginalized and downtrodden. Mr. Akshya Panda, Economic Advisor, Department of Heavy Industries, Govt. of India, as the chief speaker of the convention enlightened the gathering about the role of CSR in empowering women and development of children. The other eminent dignitaries, Ex-Chairpersons of SSWB, Odisha and 8 Chairpersons of the SSWB of 8 states of India, were felicitated for their unparalleled service to the society.

“CSR for the Empowerment of Women & Child and Social Welfare Board in India” was the main theme for panel discussion and deliberation where eminent media persons, philanthropists and social activists participated and shared their knowledge .Among the eminent guests were Mr. Nitin Chandra, Principal Secretary, SSEPD, Govt. of Odisha, Dr. Kasturi Mohapatra, Chairperson, OSCPCR, Mr. P.K Sahoo, Principal Director & Head, CIPET, Balasore, Mr. Dilip Kumar Satpathy, Bureau Chief, Business Standard, Mr. Prashant Kumar Sahoo, State Head, Wockhrdt Foundation, Dr. Santosh Kumar Mishra, Director, IMMT, Govt. of India, Mr. Sandeep Sahu, Media Journalist & Activist, Ms. Mahua Chattarjee, Regional Head, CRY,Ms. Arundhati Devi, Eminent Leader of International Dissonance Movement and Mr. L.P.
