Sri Sri University’s Prof Srinivas Subbarao Receives Award for Promoting Campus Startup Culture

 

Bhubaneswar: Sri Sri University’s Professor Srinivas Subbarao has received OdishaInc Award, a prestigious award for excellence in the category of promoting entrepreneurship from Shri Pratap Jena, the Hon’ble Minister of Health, Law and I&B of Government of Odisha at the Crown Hotel recently. Prof Subbarao, who is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS) at the university, has been appreciated for his inspiring role in creating a campus startup culture in a new six-year-old university.

Prof Srinivas Subbarao, who studied at Berhampur University, Nagpur University and IIM Ahmedabad, is a national award-winning management educator who has made a seminal contribution in promoting entrepreneurship on his campuses in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. He, in last four years, at Sri Sri University has developed a thriving campus startup culture. Recently his effort was appreciated by the Government of Odisha and he received the Best Boot Camp Award from Shri Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, for generating a record of 535 startup ideas by Sri Sri University during the Startup India Yatra (2018). Under Prof Subbarao’s able leadership, Srinovation, the Entrepreneurship Cell has now transformed to become an incubation centre known as SSU Innovation Pvt Ltd. This incubation centre has now received Odisha government approval to certify startup proposals for funding and work as a nodal agency in three important areas namely, i) agribusiness, ii) food processing and iii) social entrepreneurship.

The jury took note of Prof Subbarao’s achievements in developing a campus startup culture in Sri Sri University in particular and promoting Entrepreneurship among students of Odisha in general.
