Bhubaneswar: Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), under Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India with an objective to build leadership and next wave of budding entrepreneurs, is setting up Centers of Excellences (CoEs) in various technology domains spread across the country. These CoES are being established by STPI with support from Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India and respective State Governments to boost Innovation, creation of IPR, and Product Development from the country.
As part of this initiative, STPI in collaboration with Electronics & IT Department, Govt. of Odisha is setting up the Electropreneur Park (EP) at Bhubaneswar, which is the first ESDM Incubation center in eastern India. IIIT Bhubaneswar has joined hands with STPI as the Knowledge and Academic Partner and India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) as the Implementation Partner for industry connect, mentoring support and outreach.
The Soft launch of Electropreneur Park (EP) at Bhubaneswar is done by Shri Subrorto Bagchi, Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority on 23rd of December 2019 in the gracious presence of Shri Tusharkanti Behera, Hon’ble Minister for Electronics & IT, Govt. of Odisha, Dr. Omkar Rai, DG, STPI, Shri Hemant Sharma, Secretary, MSME, Govt. of Odisha, Shri Manoj Kumar Mishra, Secretary, Electronics & IT, Govt. of Odisha, Shri Manas Panda, Director, STPI-Bhubaneswar, Shri Jitendra Chaddah, Senior Director, Operations & Strategy, Intel India & Chairman IESA, Shri Pradeep Gupta, MD, Cybermedia & Chief Mentor of EP-Bhubaneswar and other dignitaries and Industry leaders.
On this occasion, the Online Portal of Electropreneur Park (EP) is unveiled by Shri Tusharkanti Behera, Hon’ble Minister for Electronics & IT, Government of Odisha. The process of inviting online application from the Startups/Ideates/innovators to be incubated in EP was started on the day with Soft launch of the facility.
It is significant that, tech leader and world leader in global semiconductor design & manufacturing company M/s. Texas Instruments (TI) is pleased to consider linkage with the Electropreneur Park, Bhubaneswar. The Partnership will be in terms of Business & Technological Mentorship to the Entrepreneurs and Innovators/Startups of EP-Bhubaneswar for knowledge sharing, mentoring and network support activities in conjunction with STPI.
TI will engage with entrepreneurs, innovators and startups at the ElectropreneurPark, Bhubaneswar along with the STPI to provide business and technology insights and mentoring while also exploring networking opportunities within TI’s India and worldwide ecosystem where relevant.
The EP Bhubaneswar shall be located in STPI ELITE, Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar is mandated to promote innovation in Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), creation of Intellectual Property and provide an enabling platform to the incubatees. The EP is being equipped with an advanced Lab, plug & play facilities would also provide mentor connect, access to technology & domain experts, Strategic guidance Business mentorship, access to established FABLAB, Technical training, Funding assistance, Networking opportunities with potential investors & customers, market intelligence, guidance for patenting to convert ideas into successful products would be made available to the incubated startups.
Around 45-50 startups to be incubated over a period of five years in the EP-Bhubaneswar which will focus on verticals like Energy, Process Control & Industrial Automation, and Education. However, innovative ideas in ESDM pertaining to Agriculture, Disaster Management, Healthcare & SMART city applications shall also be supported.
The Electropreneur Park, Bhubaneswar will primarily aspiring for:
o Creating of a holistic eco-system for innovation & entrepreneurship
o Enabling creation of Intellectual Property
o Assisting prototype and product development and commercialization of products
o Creating employment for skilled people
o Integration of academia, industry, Govt. and other elements of the eco-system
o Knowledge and resource sharing with EP New Delhi for mutual benefits
Coinciding the event, a Technical Session was held on ‘Opportunities for Startups & creating enabling ecosystem for Electronics Design & Manufacturing:” where the top Industry leaders like Shri J S Ahuja, Cadence Dr. Satya Gupta, Senzopt Dr. Verrappan V, Tessolve Shri Anish Pandari, National Instruments, Shri Mrinal Das, eCoE & Shri Sandeep Aurora,Vice President IESA shared their vision & thought how to make Odisha as vibrant destination for ESDM Industries.
It is well envisioned that, the Electropreneur Park, Bhubaneswar will uphold the lofty objectives of the Make in Odisha and Make in India initiatives heralding a new ESDM growth story of State and Country.
