Bhubaneswar : As many as six gates of Hirakud Dam opened by the authorities today in two phases to control the excess floodwaters from the reservoir.
According to sources, at first in the morning three gates were open then later in the afternoon rest of the gates were opened to discharge the floodwaters.
On the other hand, the Water Resources Department ruled out any possibility of flood in Mahanadi River following discharge of excess water from Hirakud Dam.
