New Delhi: The cricket lovers in India are witnessing the courage and determination of the blind cricketers in the first international bilateral and triangular T20 and ODI matches organized by Samarthanam Trust and Cricket Association for the Blind in India. The month-long series of matches between India, England and Sri Lanka started from 2nd October 2018. Yesterday Delhi witnessed the thrill of first ever day & night ODI cricket match for the blind between India and Sri Lanka.
Mr. Subu Kota, Founder & CEO of The Boston Group USA and President of Samarthanam Trust USA added joy amongst the blind cricketers by donating 1 million USD to Samarthanam Trust to promote cricket for the blind globally.
Mr. Subu Kota said that, “I am happy to contribute for cricket for the blind and its promotion across the world. The donation amount will be transferred to a fund in USA and the proceeds will be used for cricket for the blind.
I hope the donation would motivate many other people to also come forward and be inspired to support the noble cause. The bigger task of raising awareness among general public on the need and effect of selfless giving is also being undertaken. The happiness experienced in selfless giving and for the right cause cannot be put in words. I believe that there cannot be a better cause than seeing fellow human being content. In my 7 years of association with Samarthanam, I found that Samarthanam is doing exceptional work. The mission and commitment of Samarthanam to help the disabled, especially the blind has touched my heart and inspired me to do what I could do in my own small capacity.”
“It is just the beginning of a new journey and we hope to see great results. Only time will tell how well we have succeeded. We can spread the same happiness of selfless giving anywhere in the world.” Mr. Subu added further.
Ever since the first ever World Cup Cricket for the Blind was held in Bangalore in 2012, Cricket for the Blind has been gaining momentum in India and worldwide and is now spreading its wings to the United States. The team behind Cricket for the Blind movement is from Samarthanam Trust.
Mr. Mahantesh G K, Founder Managing Trustee of Samarthanam, President of Cricket Association for the Blind in India and World Blind Cricket said, “It has always been my dream to take cricket for the blind to zenith and I greatly appreciate the support received in accomplishing the mission.
